FAQs

What kind of work does Superconductive do?

Superconductive’s data integration practice blends deep domain knowledge in healthcare and life science with modern, best practice for agile data engineering.

We’re specialists in data plumbing (ETL, data normalization, data cleaning, etc.): the mundane, but critical infrastructure required for doing anything of value with data. We pride ourselves on working quickly with very high guarantees on data quality.

What role do software/algorithms play?

We are tools-augmented engineers: a significant part of our value-add is proprietary software and algorithms that help us accelerate tasks like mapping, cleaning, and validating data.

How does Superconductive approach contracting?

We prefer to align our incentives with clients by setting up tightly scoped projects that are billed by deliverables and results---avoiding the time-and-materials trap that often leaves companies holding the bag for cost overruns.

Do you work outside health care?

We do most of our work in health care, but the need for data plumbing is widespread. We have no objection to projects in other fields when they come to us.

What about other data-related work?

In combination with data plumbing, we often advise on adjacent topics, such as data architecture, BI and analytics, operations, and machine learning/AI.

Does Superconductive subcontract or work with partners?

In combination with data plumbing, we sometimes advise on adjacent topics, such as data architecture, BI and analytics, operations, and machine learning/AI. Although members of the Superconductive team have significant expertise in these areas, this is not our focus.

We draw on deep leadership experience from data-first health tech companies, like Jawbone, Aspire Health, and Health Catalyst. We look for opportunities to weave software, data, and algorithms into everything we do. The end result is a dramatically different way of approaching data engineering in health care, technology, and life sciences companies.
